What brings you joy? You wouldn’t believe how many people aren’t quite sure. Many of us are busy and racing around during the day and don’t even feel we have time to focus on what brings us joy. The deal, though, is that it’s essential for your well-being. The more you embrace the things that bring you joy…the more you’ve harnessed the power to spread that joy to others!
You know how a flight attendant tells passengers before the flight that in the event of cabin pressure loss, “Secure your own oxygen mask first, before assisting others”? Same thing here. Identify what brings you joy. And then honor those things and start making them a part of your life, if you haven’t already.
It’s important to make sure that YOU are your number-one priority – in order to be of better service to the world. Harold Whitman hit it right-on when he said: “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

I have really enjoyed the Be Inspired Challenges so far. However, I cannot seem to access the weekend challenge. Am I missing something? I’m not criticizing; I just don’t want to miss even one of the challenges. Thanks for any information on the weekend challenge.
Did you log in? It’s entitled “Just Be” and should be there.
I love this! Thank you for the reminder that we have the power to change ourselves and our world! I listened to Neil diamond all day long at work today. Cd player on low so only I could hear it but the songs made me so happy all day- a simple, little thing that brought me joy:)
Hi Brenda! Yes, sometimes we need those little reminders that the power lies within us. I’m smiling knowing that you were listening to NEIL all day. AWESOME!!! It’s all in the little things, right? 🙂
Sometimes it is hard to let go of what we think should bring us joy and what actually does bring us joy. Having to create a list and then thinking about it helps to clarify the real joys of my life. Thanks.
Hi Linda. Great point! Sounds like that old pull between the “head” (the “shoulds”) and the heart (what’s really right for us). So happy to know that the list helps to clarify…and of course, getting it in writing makes it “real.” All the best to you as you embrace the real joys in your life. Woohoo!
Great post about Joy. Sometimes we get so busy the joy is hidden in the “I have to do”. I just get joy from doing NOTHING! Joy, Joy, Joy!
Hi Joanie! Yep, it’s so easy to get lost in those “to-do’s”…that we lose sight of the joy around us. And it’s often in those quiet moments where joy so softly bubbles to the surface. Wishing you a fantastic day!
