This was one of our many concerts scheduled for, what we are referring to as, Concert Tour 2015. I have a deep love for Michael Franti. I saw him for the first time last year at the Basilica Block Party and it was probably one of the best, if not the best concerts I’ve ever attended. The amount of energy he has, the family-friendly environment, the time he spends off stage and out in the crowd, and the stories he shares all add up to a remarkable evening.
Here’s a video of one of my favorite songs (you HAVE to watch it). I can see you now moving and smiling!
What made this concert especially meaningful for me was the tickets (myself + 1) were gifted to me by a friend who manages the venue. I had reached out simply for help with a password deal that was popping up on the website and, the next thing I knew, she was putting me on the guest list. When I read her message, I started to cry. I’m so touched by the kindness of others in a world that doesn’t always seem to so kind. This kindness meant the world to me and is a great reminder to each of us of the value of kindness and how one little act can make such a difference in someone’s life.
The second really special piece was having my hubby join me. He doesn’t really love this kind of music and I told him I had plenty of friends who would be happy to be my +1 if he preferred not to go so I didn’t want him to feel like he had to. He wanted to join me and actually found himself enjoying the music. He said he had a really nice time. We can add this one to our wonderful (and growing) list of special memories over the past few years.
While we weren’t allowed to bring in a camera with removable lenses, I did bring in my point and shoot and my phone and here are a few photos I took.
And my favorite…(yes, I was that close #nozoom)..just because of how close I was, not because the photo is great.
Music is a wonderful tool that can connect people and shift our moods quickly. Do you have a favorite concert experience? Who did you see and where was it?
I heart this post. 🙂
