I had a lunch meeting that ended up getting rescheduled. I’d been working hard all morning and decided it was time for lunch and wanted to do something fun. When I bought my kayak a year ago, I tried putting it in my Pontiac G6 2 door hard top convertible with the top down and it fit perfectly in the passenger side with the seat fully reclined. I was pretty excited that I would be able to travel with it easily on my own and, therefore, I reasoned, get a lot more use out of it. Makes sense, right?
Wrong.
It never happened. Until today. I knew it fit and I was determined to go out kayaking on my own for the first time. In less than 15 minutes, I’d pulled the kayak down, put it in my car, drove off to the beach, and was in the water, paddling to wherever the water might take me.
Magical.
Magical indeed.
It was such a great feeling to know I could do this for myself and go on my own but also to be able to connect to nature in such a special way is beyond incredible. I paddled around the lake for about 45 minutes. Even had a blue heron glide by right in front of me, face level, about 10 feet away. That time was enough to recharge and reboot me and I know I’ll be doing this a lot more.
I can’t wait for the next time!
