Mary from Lilla Rose graciously sent me a clip along with some bobby pins to try out and I had a blast.  I don’t usually do a lot with my hair outside of curl it with a wand so doing some different things was outside of my box and that was a big part of the reason I wanted to give them a try.

Mary was so helpful and showed me different ways it could be used and I really enjoyed experimenting.  Here’s a few things about my hair…it’s very fine, probably all gray (not sure since, once that growth hits about 1/4″, I’m off to the salon but that’s how it appears), and about a year ago I tried a perm which went horribly wrong and did a lot of damage to my hair.  My primary focus for the last year was taking care of my hair and waiting for it to grow out and we are so close – just about an inch or so to go!  Knowing that when I get that last little bit taken care of, I now have some new looks to boot is really exciting for me. I’m not so great at taking selfies of the back of my head so I asked Mary to send over a few images for me to use, which she gladly did.

  The one pictured with the orange flowers in the background is the one I have!  Now, I may not be great at taking pictures of the back of my head BUT my adorable grandson (yes, grandson – don’t judge – he’s the only child I had access to) also tried these out.  He has a beautiful head of long blonde hair that gets in his eyes all the time.  Most of the time, it’s up in a man bun but I decided to give the bobby pins a try on his fine baby hair and see how they would hold up.  They worked perfectly.  They didn’t pull his hair and they stayed put until nap time when we took them out.  He also didn’t mind having them in which is a big plus.

So are you wondering how I felt about them after all the playing around?  Here’s what I thought.

Look

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about them as most of them are very feminine but that’s actually what I ended up liking about them.  I enjoyed having something simple, yet feminine in my hair.  I’m a pretty simple person and this was a nice touch.

Feel

The clip is very comfortable to wear and since there are different sizes available, you can get the size that will work best for your hair.

Ease of Use

They are very easy to use…I was quite surprised by this actually.  They don’t look hard…I just don’t have much experience with hair accessories like this so I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I also liked that it was all one piece…no need to worry about losing 1/2 of it like other similar products.

Pricing

They are more expensive than other similar products.  That being said, they are also more versatile than other products and better made so I believe they will last longer…plus, as I said before, since the two pieces of the clip are connected you don’t have to worry about losing 1/2 of it.
