Focusing On What I Want

It’s so easy to be clear on what I know I don’t want that sometimes I forget to turn that into a positive and shift my focus to what I do want.  What we are focused on is what we attract so it stands to reason that if I’m focused on what I don’t want, I’m going to attract more of this into my life.  Dang.

I have so many things that are going well but the one thing I haven’t been able to get rid of is the fear of what the future holds.  The fear of when might things get icky.  The fear of worrying that I don’t deserve to have a life full of good things.  I was recently reminded of this.

Sometimes when I’m deep in my crap, I can’t see straight.  I get so wrapped up in my own little world and there is no room left for objectivity and logic.  Have you ever experienced this?  I don’t think I’m alone.  I am grateful to have wonderful women in my life who provide the support I need.  Who help me to see beyond the crap into the goodness that is there for the taking at all times.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and not able to look at life objectively, I really encourage you to create a strong support system around you.  Here are some tips:

  • Find a group of people (or a few groups of people – we can never have too many can we?) who build you up…who help you see how fantastic you are and how much you deserve to have in your life and see if they are willing to get together regularly to support each other.
  • Remember that you become the sum of the 5 people you spend most of your time with so choose those 5 people carefully.
  • Take a deep breathe and just “be” for a while.  It’s amazing how much clarity a few deep breaths can bring about.
  • Enjoy life and all the goodness you can see.  Express gratitude for the goodness and stay focused on it as a way of attracting more of the same into your life.
