I came across this article on being healthy and happy. It was shared on Facebook and well worth the read. She comically talks about how she doesn’t really like being told how to find inner peace by “skinny blonde ladies laughing on a beach wearing yoga pants.”
She doesn’t argue the value of the words they share, just provides her own version of how to be happy + healthy which I adore. I adore it because I know it to be true.
I can speak personally to the value of doing what you want. It isn’t about not caring about anyone else and what they want or think in a thoughtless, uncaring way. It’s just about honoring what feels right to you and not beating yourself up about the choices you make. Negative thoughts and words are more harmful than the deed itself may be…depending on the deed of course **smiley face**
It is about eating what you want (within reason…moderation in all things, right?)…about spending your time in ways that make you feel good…about doing the activities or exercise you enjoy…meditating in your way (cuz it can look a lot of different ways). You don’t have to lay on a beach somewhere (although that would be awesome) or do yoga every day (although it is a great practice) to find happiness. So go ahead…do whatever you want now. That’s what I’m talking about.
So here’s my pro tip for today: What she said.
