MallardBirds flyin’ high you know how I feel
Sun in the sky you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by you know how I feel
Its a new dawn, its a new day, its a new life for me
yeah, its a new dawn its a new day its a new life for me
~ Lyrics from Feeling Good by Nina Simone

Yesterday, Kayla and I had a few moments to spare before going to dinner at Osaka’s in Coon Rapids.  Osaka’s happens to be right by our new place so we decided to drive around the complex and get a feel for the lay of the land.  We saw people sitting out on their balconies in the unseasonably warm weather (my car said it was 40 degrees out at that time – at the end of January!).  We saw the entrance straight into the Nature Center from the complex.  As we came around the corner, we saw one little area of the pond that wasn’t frozen…full of ducks!

The ducks were chasing each other, playing in the water, playing with each other.  We pulled into a parking spot and just watched them for a while.  They were so cute…seemed so free…just hanging out and enjoying themselves.  We talked about what it would be like to look out and see that every day and Kayla wondered how tame they were and if she could feed them.

I found myself growing more and more excited for this new life I am about to embark on.  Looking forward to every part of it.  Ok, well, full disclosure…maybe not the third floor, no elevator piece…but I know I need the exercise and it will be good for me and will change how I do things in my life which will be good so it’ll be ok.  I felt free, just like those birds, and inspired.
