I saw this recipe on TikTok and, while I don’t have a strong capacity for spice others in my family do so I just had to try it. If you decide to give it a go, be careful of those fumes while cooking. They can be quite strong!
Cowboy Candy
Ingredients
- 20 jalapenos, de-seeded and sliced
Sauce
- 2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp tumeric
- garlic powder, measure with the heart
- aleppo pepper, measure with the heart
Instructions
- Place sliced jalapenos in a bowl and set aside
- Bring all sauce ingredients to a rolling boil and then reduce the heat
- Simmer for 5 minutes
- Add jalapenos
- Heat back up to high and simmer for 5 minutes
- Remove jalapenos
- Put the heat for the sauce back to high and boil for 6-7 minutes
- Heat a jar by letting it sit in hot water
- Add jalapenos to the jar
- Remove the pot of sauce from the heat and let it cool for 2-3 minutes
- Add sauce to jar, making sure all jalapenos are submerged
- Seal the jar and place in fridge for 2-3 weeks
- Stays good for 2-3 months
- Keep extra sauce for other recipes (she calls it liquid gold)
