I saw this recipe on TikTok and, while I don’t have a strong capacity for spice others in my family do so I just had to try it. If you decide to give it a go, be careful of those fumes while cooking. They can be quite strong!

Cowboy Candy

  • 20 jalapenos, de-seeded and sliced


  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • garlic powder, measure with the heart
  • aleppo pepper, measure with the heart


  • Place sliced jalapenos in a bowl and set aside
  • Bring all sauce ingredients to a rolling boil and then reduce the heat
  • Simmer for 5 minutes
  • Add jalapenos
  • Heat back up to high and simmer for 5 minutes
  • Remove jalapenos
  • Put the heat for the sauce back to high and boil for 6-7 minutes
  • Heat a jar by letting it sit in hot water
  • Add jalapenos to the jar
  • Remove the pot of sauce from the heat and let it cool for 2-3 minutes
  • Add sauce to jar, making sure all jalapenos are submerged
  • Seal the jar and place in fridge for 2-3 weeks
  • Stays good for 2-3 months
  • Keep extra sauce for other recipes (she calls it liquid gold)
