For some time now I’ve felt guided to talk about things of a more private nature, and sometimes even considered taboo. Relationships, with self and with others, is the main theme. And that includes sex. I wrote a post back in my Life Lessons series about how sex is fun where I talked about the importance of connection, of happiness, of finding ways to reduce stress and more.
As I grow older, I realize more and more how everything is related. One thing can support another or it can hurt. For every action there is a reaction. You get the idea.
It’s all connected.
And this topic, orgasms and creativity, is no exception to the rule.
Orgasms are directly connected to boosting your creativity.
If you are feeling stuck in a rut, an orgasm is one of the best ways to get yourself unstuck.
You might be asking how the heck that’s possible…it doesn’t necessarily seem like a logical place to go. But think about it in these terms…
- Orgasms lower blood pressure.
- Orgasms release the hormone oxytocin, as well as a slew of other feel-good endorphins.
- Orgasms help you sleep better at night.
- Orgasms reduce pain, sometimes said to double your pain tolerance.
- Regular sex has been linked to creating higher levels of the antibody immunoglobulin A, which boosts our immune system.
- Sex is great exercise and exercise is great for us.
- Sex keeps your brain sharp. It increases blood circulation and transports oxygen-enriched blood to the hypothalamus (center of your brain for memory and learning).
- Orgasms detox your body.
- Orgasm spike DHEA levels in your body which help with tissue repair, looking younger, and improves brain function.
And the list goes on. Even Dr. Oz recommends a minimum of 200 orgasms a year to shave six physiological years off your life.
So with all the juicy goodness an orgasm provides, it’s not such a stretch to believe it can increase creativity.
Because sexual energy is ultimately creative energy.
Yes, sexual energy and creative energy are the same thing.
They both have the ability to bring about new life…sometimes in the form of another person…sometimes in the form of an idea.
Not only does this energy have the ability to create but it also has the ability to connect. Connect with self, with divine energy, with others.
Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, wrote how the key to genius was learning how to use the power of your sexual energy to do great things in your life…to create and connect in a big way.
And Naomi Wolf, author of the 1991 cultural classic The Beauty Myth, examines in Vagina: A New Biography, the science behind the mind-body connection between the brain and our lady parts. What comes from this exploration is a revelation of how profoundly a woman’s bodily experiences influences pretty much every aspect of life.
Wolf write: Female sexual pleasure, rightly understood, is not just about sexuality, or just about pleasure. It serves, also, as a medium of female self-knowledge and hopefulness; female creativity and courage; female focus and initiative; female bliss and transcendence; and as medium of a sensibility that feels very much like freedom. To understand the vagina properly is to realize that it is one with the female brain, and is also part of the soul.
This isn’t a new concept. Just one that is simply not discussed enough.
Everywhere we look, we are faced with sex. Sex sells and companies use it well. And yet, our society doesn’t typically embrace the discussion of this topic. We are taught, sometimes by those close to us, sometimes by society and sometimes both that there is somehow something wrong with this discussion. But is there something wrong with discussing it?
I don’t think so. And yet, I am aware as I write this post how much fear is creeping in around sharing it.
What will others think? What will YOU think? And not just think about the post, or the topic…but WHAT WILL YOU THINK OF ME??
When I step around that fear (cuz it’s still there) and keep going…keep typing…I find myself wondering what the world would be like if we were more open to exploring all this topic has to offer.
I see us living in a world full of open and creative individuals…of individuals who make great decisions…who listen to what their gut tells them to be true…who are more connected…who embrace a different way of living that requires each of us to show up…to share…
To be who we are fully and without apology.
And all those individuals come together in the world as one creative, soulful being…living and loving fully…connected to self and to others…amazing!
So grab yourself a big cup of O and create something amazing today.
