This list brings a whole new twist for me this week. So much as happened over the last couple of weeks and I’m starting live anew. Let’s see how many blissful moments I can find in the last week.
I have moved into my new home, leaving behind a home of 20 years. Bittersweet feelings arise in my soul as I look back at the children I raised in that home and the marriage I have also left behind.
Moving day brought more people to help that expected, a handful from my soon-to-be ex-husband’s friends and family. I expected that they would want nothing to do with me at this point but that was not the case at all. The day was filled with hard work and laughter too. I am also grateful to my family and friends who came out to help.
I realized fully this week how cool it was to have a Target, WalMart, KMart, a mall, Rainbow, Cub, Aldi, Bob’s Produce, Sam’s Club and a bazzillion restaurants – all within a few blocks of me. After years of driving to get anywhere and having to deal with smaller versions of the real deal in my little home town, I now have total access to so much.
I have my own bathroom! Ok, I am sharing with my cats but I draw the line there.
I got a garage! After being told there was a waiting list, they discovered one was actually available right outside my front door!! I feel safer with my car tucked away and a place to put things I don’t need access to all the time.
I don’t mind going commando. LOL That’s probably more than you wanted to know but after selling our washer and dryer a couple of weeks before moving and expecting to do laundry right away when I moved in, only to discover the card machine you have to use to load money for the laundry facilities is broken…well, you get the picture (even if you didn’t want it). I was so busy all weekend, I didn’t get to the machine until Sunday night after the office was closed. Then I didn’t get back to the office until Tuesday morning, only to discover I have to call the company directly. Then, once I contacted them, they said it would be a day or so before they could get someone out. Apparently, I’m the only one in need of a new card vs. loading money on an existing card, which works fine, so no one had called yet. Well, life happens and I haven’t had time to check it out again since. This weekend for sure though!!
Sunny, bright days. I’ve been sleeping in a lower level with very little light for a couple of years now. It’s 10:30am as I type this. I’ve been up since 7:30am hanging out and feeling rested. I’ve showered, dressed, had breakfast, played with my cats, baked carrot cake cupcakes (the little tiny cute ones), and gotten a little work done too! I’m not much of a morning person so this is a pretty big deal.
Now it’s time to get back to the day and the work before me so I can go to the movies this afternoon. Another one of my favorite activities and one of my favorite theaters is just 3 miles from my house now instead of 25 miles. Yay!! Mixed reviews on Wanderlust but lots of great actors in it and, hopefully, I will find a few laughs throughout the show!
Thanks again to Liv Lane for the reminder to be grateful for what we have and see the bliss in all of life, not just the obvious. This post is inspired by Liv’s Bliss List Blog Hop.
