Why Did I Ever Wait?

Two years ago, my daughter hit a curb in a rainstorm hard. She blew out the tire and bent the rim.
For two years, I’ve had ongoing issues with that tire holding air. I keep an eye on it constantly. Almost every time I get in and out of the vehicle, I’m looking at it.
I tried different things to get it to hold air…sometimes they worked for a while and then they’d stop working and I’d be dealing with it all again.
For a year, I’ve had a small antifreeze leak somewhere.
It was an issue all last summer and fall and I kept an eye on it every day. I’d put in a little bit here and there to make sure it was full. I watched the temperature gauge constantly, just to be safe.
In the winter, it didn’t seem to be an issue. I still watched it like a hawk but didn’t have to do anything.
Until two days ago, in the midst of a little temper tantrum I was having, a hose came loose and sprayed antifreeze all over, meaning I had to get a tow and now had to deal with an antifreeze issue again.
For close to a year, I’ve needed new wiper blades.
It’s one of those things that I only think about when it’s raining so it’s easy to overlook for me.
Boy, those rain days have been irritating.
I even picked up wiper blades a few months ago, thinking I could change them myself…nope, required a change in hardware so I couldn’t do it.
The amount of energy spent just thinking and mildly stressing about these things is crazy. Every day pings of stress, unnecessary stress, creeping through my day.
I could have taken her in to have the antifreeze issue looked at but I didn’t. It seemed fine and I chalked it up to being too busy and, yet, I wasn’t too busy to find time every day to worry about it. But now the issue is resolved for good. An easy fix for less than $100.
I could have gotten the rim changed out. Even at a $300 cost (just for the rim), I had the money…I just didn’t want to spend it that way. The cost seemed ridiculous and I couldn’t get past that. What was really ridiculous? That I’ve spent every day for the past two years worrying about it. Today, I have a new rim.
And wiper blades. I brought the new ones along and asked them to put them on when they changed the rim out AND change my oil which was coming due soon.
NO WAITING!
If you have something that you’ve allowed to steal your energy over and over and over again, take care of it today. Get rid of the stress. Get rid of the worry. And use that energy for something else…something you enjoy.
What will you do with all that time and energy?
Me? I think I’ll go on a bike ride for my lunch break.
