I know just how you feel. Sometimes I have so much work to do that I feel like I absolutely can’t afford to take a break. I tell myself I’ll fall even more behind and that would be bad. I tell myself I can’t play until the work is done. I tell myself all kinds of stories.
Stories that are full of lies.
You see, I know from past experience, I always feel better after taking a break. I know I’ll have more energy, more creativity and more drive to accomplish whatever I want to accomplish. If you’re feeling drained, low on creativity or just a general sense of the downers; it may be time for you to take a break. It doesn’t have to be a long one, even a few minutes will make a world of difference. That might be all you need for a new perspective.

Here are some simple ways you can take a break right now:
- Go sit on the couch and do nothing for 10 minutes.
- Take a walk outside.
- Ride your treadmill or use other exercise equipment for 5 minutes.
- Dance to one song that makes you feel alive.
- Take a drive somewhere…anywhere.
- Play with your pet for 10 minutes.
